How to Give Yourself OP on Your Ghostly Minecraft Server

Operator (OP) status gives you full control over your server, including the ability to run commands, kick/ban players, and manage the world.

Important Notes:

  • You must be the server owner or have access to the control panel.
  • Always use your exact Minecraft username (case-sensitive).
  • Changes take effect immediately in most cases.

Method 1: Via the Console (Recommended)

  1. Log in to your Ghostly Control Panel.
  2. Go to your server and click Console.
  3. Type the following command and press Enter:
op YourUsername

Example: op Steve 4. You should see a confirmation message in the console.

You now have OP permissions!

Method 2: In-Game (If You Already Have OP or Are the First Player)

  1. Join your server.
  2. Open chat and type:
/op YourUsername
  1. Press Enter.

Method 3: Editing Server Files (ops.json)

  1. In your Ghostly Control Panel, go to File Manager.
  2. Navigate to the root folder and open ops.json.
  3. Add your username in this format (if the file is empty):
[
  {
    "uuid": "your-uuid-here",
    "name": "YourUsername",
    "level": 4,
    "bypassesPlayerLimit": false
  }
]

You can find your UUID at https://mcuuid.net/.
Set "level": 4 for full operator power.

Save the file and Restart your server.
